May has two big names to present to our members and meeting attendees. First to present will be Steve Hullfish. Steve has been a favored presenter to our group in the past when discussing his experiences editing "Courageous", and he's back to continue sharing his experiences with Avid Media Composer. After the break, Avid, via their own Corey Tedrow, will be here to share how you can accelerate your high-resolution and file-based workflows with the upcoming Media Composer 7 release.

Last month, Autodesk Technical Marketing Manager Ken LaRue had an amazing and eye opening presentation about how revolutionary Autodesk Smoke 10 could be to work with. Nick Harauz's workflow discussion with Premiere Pro and After Effects also gave attendees some really helpful tips to speed up their work.

We are EXCLUSIVELY using EventBrite for our monthly meeting registration. All attendees must register on EventBrite; free admission for members, just $10 for non-members, and $5 for students with a valid student I.D.

May 22nd, 2013 EventBrite Registration Page

* We will be using EventBrite's registration list as our RSVP list for building security, so make sure if you plan on attending, that you register!  If you are registering for yourself and a friend/colleague, each attendee must be registered with their own name in order to be on the list for security. * Registration will be REQUIRED BEFORE 3 PM on Tuesday, May, 21st. You do not need to print out your event registration ticket, but make sure that you do in fact register for the meeting.

May Meeting Highlights

Meida Composer 7 Plus Avid Interplay – Corey Tedrow

NAB 2013 didn't see as many amazing product introductions as past years, but Avid Media Composer 7 may turn out to be one of those announcements. Corey Tedrow, Product Specialist at Avid Technology, will give the Chicago Creative Pro User Group a special sneak preview of it's features before the public release in June.

See how you can accelerate your high-resolution and file-based workflows with the upcoming Media Composer 7 release. Find out how to extend your production anywhere you want to be with Avid Interplay. In addition to all the features added like LUT support, Dynamic media folders, Interplay Sphere for Mac, and more, the price-point to join all the other creatives who sing the praises of Avid is now as little as $999.

Corey Tedrow has over 20 years of experience in film and television production. She began her career editing 16mm film and working as a PA on documentary productions for NOVA. She has been working directly with Avid products for over 17 years, as both an instructor and a demo artist. She has worked with a wide range of Post and Broadcast clients, showing them the latest technology and workflows from Avid. In addition to her Avid experience, she has worked as a designer in both interactive and print mediums. She holds a degree in Film Studies from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and managed to avoid touching a computer until after she graduated.

Tips and Tricks for Avid plus how to best utilize the SmartTools – Steve Hullfish

Steve Hullfish presents great tips and techniques that you may not have ever known existed, but you'll be happy to see them revealed. It'll be like having your Avid feature requests fulfilled in a single evening. All kinds of Avid love delivered with the typical, twisted intensity of Steve Hullfish. Or we can just play stump the Avid guru.

Steve Hullfish co-edited the Sony/TriStar feature film "Courageous." He has written four books on color correction and editing, hosted numerous training DVDs and serves as a consultant for top studios and media companies around the world. Steve is also the founder of Verascope Pictures.
