The Chicago Final Cut Pro Users Group grew out of FCP training sessions that Gary Adcock, founder and past president, was holding at the Chicago Apple Market Center in 1999 -2000. In February of 2002, after meeting unofficially for more than a year, the Chicago Final Cut Pro Users Group (CHIFCPUG) was granted official status by Apple. The first board members were Gary Adcock, Matthew Geller, George Patay, David Sallak and Billy Sheahan. All were video editors and/or FCP instructors.
Due to corporate reorganization at Apple, they closed the Market Center, and CHIFCPUG moved its meetings to the Chicago Tribune in September of 2002.
January 2005 saw CHIFCPUG move to yet another new home, Adler Planetarium. Located on the city’s lakefront, the Planetarium has a large auditorium with theater style seating.
As of 2008, our meetings take place at a variety of sponsor locations throughout the Chicago area. Thanks to our local sponsors for providing the group with meeting venues each month.
CHIFCPUG meets on the FOURTH Wednesday of each month beginning at 6:15 PM. Meetings wrap by 9:00 PM.
CHIFCPUG is a registered Apple User Group.
